Project Promise

Project Promise is a free afterschool program that provides students in grades K-5 academic and personal enrichment services including academic remediation, homework assistance, tutoring, mentoring, Project Based Learning, social skills training, arts education, and physical fitness.

Miami Children’s Initiative (MCI) in joint partnership with Miami Dade County Public Schools provides afterschool, weekend/holiday, summer programming for K-5 students at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center. Students receive academic and personal enrichment services including: academic remediation, homework assistance, tutoring, mentoring, Project Based Learning, social skills training, arts education, and physical fitness.

Programs goals are to:

  1. increase academic achievement in English Language Arts, writing, math, and science,
  2. increase good nutrition and physical fitness
  3. increase positive behavior
  4. increase parent involvement.

8:00am to 5:00pm

All flyers are distributed onsite to parents of our students in the afterschool program through students assigned Student Advocates.
